Location

The villa is in Valdelsa, just a few kilometres from San Gimignano, a municipality in the province of Siena whose historic centre is included in the list of UNESCO's World Heritage sites.

Numerous archaeological finds demonstrate that the area around San Gimignano was already inhabited in Etruscan times and in proximity to the town are also some ruins dating back to Longobard times.

Mentioned for the first time in a document dated 929, San Gimignano stood along the Via Francigena, the ancient pilgrimage road that connected northern Europe to Rome, and at the junction of the roads to Siena and Pisa.

Most of San Gimignano historic centre date back to the 13th century, when the town experienced a period of great splendour and the city walls and towers were built. In origin the towers, which earn the town the nickname "Middle Age Manhattan", were 72, at present only 14 of them remain.

In proximity to San Gimignano are also Castelvecchio Nature Reserve and Cellole Etruscan necropolis.


Description

The result of the renovation of a barn dating from the early 20th century, the villa features some typical elements of the traditional Tuscan rustic style, such as the wood-beamed ceilings.

A few metres from the house, in the garden furnished for guests to have their meals al fresco, are the barbecue equipment and the above-ground swimming pool (6.5x3.5 m; depth: 1.20 m).

Siena, Arezzo, Florence, Pisa, Volterra and many other Tuscan cities of art are easily reached by car for pleasant one-day trips.


Accommodation

The two-storey building can accommodate 4+1 guests in 2 double bedrooms and 1 single sofa bed, and has 2 bathrooms and 1 half bathroom.

On the ground floor are the kitchen, the living room with dining area, fireplace and a single sofa bed, the storeroom-laundry room and a half bathroom.
The first floor composes of a living area, a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with whirlpool bathtub, a second double bedroom and a bathroom with shower.

The villa comes with above-ground swimming pool, barbecue equipment, working fireplace, air conditioning, satellite TV, video cassette recorder/DVD player, Internet connection, whirlpool facilities, oven, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, cot bed and private car parking place.
