Location

The villa is located near Sovicille, in Valdelsa, just a few kilometres from Siena.

The town in southern Tuscany is renowned all over the world for its famous Palio, which is held every year on July 2nd and on August 16th, and its beautiful historic centre (Piazza del Campo, the Torre del Mangia, the magnificent Duomo and the Sanctuary of Santa Caterina are just some of Siena major monuments), which since 1995 has been included in UNESCO's World Heritage Site list.

Siena was in origin a Roman military colony, although in its historic centre has been found evidence of pre-existing Etruscan settlements. Thanks to its position along the via Francigena connecting northern Europe to Rome, in the Middle Ages Siena grew in importance, which lead to a long and bloody war between the town and Florence that involved almost all Tuscany. Dante Alighieri chanted Siena victory in the famous battle of Montaperti (1260) in his "Divine Comedy".

The plague of 1348 signalled the beginning of the decline of Siena. The town definitively surrendered in 1555 after a long siege by the troops of Charles V.

A holiday in Siena offers the opportunity to taste its excellent wines and gastronomic specialities: the pici (a particular type of hand-made pasta), the pecorino cheese, the ricciarelli and the panforte.


Description

The villa stands in peaceful and panoramic position atop a hill north-west of Siena. The panoramic terrace on the roof affords a breathtaking view of the forests and fields surrounding the estate and of the town of Siena.

Many Tuscan places of tourist interest, including Siena, Florence, Arezzo, the Chianti district, Colle Val d'Elsa, San Gimignano and Volterra are within short driving distance.

The private swimming pool (12x6 m; depth: 1.10-2.10 m) in the fully fenced wide garden that surrounds the villa is exclusively reserved to guests. An outdoor shower is next to the swimming pool.

In the garden are also a table for guests to have meals al fresco and the barbecue equipment.


Accommodation

The two-storey building can accommodate 8 guests in 1 twin bedroom and 3 double bedrooms, and has 5 bathrooms.

The ground floor composes of kitchen with direct access to the garden, living room, dining room with direct access to the garden, and a bathroom with shower.
The sleeping area is on the first floor and composes of a twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower and access to the outdoors, and three double bedrooms with ensuite bathroom with shower (one of them has a direct access to the outdoors).
