Villas at the Sea

Location

The small villa is in Maremma, near Porto Santo Stefano, on the coast of Argentario promontory.

Mount Argentario, which, like most of Tuscany, was already inhabited in Etruscan times, is said to owe its name to the Roman Enobarbi-Domizi family, which was given the area as compensation for the money it lent to the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War. The family was also known as "degli Argentari" (as money lenders were called in ancient Rome).

In origin Argentario was an island, but in the course of the centuries the River Albenga and the sea currents have created the two long sandy strips that connect the promontory to the mainland and enclose the wonderful Orbetello lagoon.

In the 16th century the promontory became part of the State of Presidi and the Spaniards built many fortresses, most of which can still be admired.


Description

The villa surrounded by a wide garden rich in plants typical of the Mediterranean macchia is part of a residential complex situated one kilometre from a private beach. In the summer a dedicated shuttle service connects the complex to the beach.

The recently renovated villa has a terrace furnished with deck chairs, sun loungers, barbecue and a table for having meals in the open air.

The terrace commands the Tyrrhenian Sea and the isle of Giglio.


Accommodation

The two-storey building accommodates 4+2 guests in 1 bedroom with bunk beds, 1 double bedroom and 1 double sofa bed, and has 3 bathrooms.

On the ground floor are the kitchen, a living room with double sofa bed, the dining area and a bathroom with shower.
The lower ground floor composes of a bedroom with bunk bed, a double bedroom and two bathrooms with shower.


Facilities and Services

The villa comes with barbecue, satellite TV, private access to the beach, freezer, oven, microwave oven, dishwasher and private car parking space.
A maid service is available upon request.
A bar/restaurant service and a shuttle service to the beach are at guests' disposal. The shuttle service operates only in the summer.

Shops and services of any kind are in Porto Santo Stefano, 5 kilometres from the villa.
