Location

The tower is located near Talamone (Grosseto), in Maremma, the area in southern Tuscany embraced by the range of Colline Metallifere, Orbetello hills, Mount Amiata and the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Maremma, which in the past was inhabited by the Etruscans and Romans, is rich in archaeological sites (including the Etruscan necropolises of Populonia and Vetulonia), incredible nature beauties (such as the wonderful tufa towns built on sheer rocks) and nature reserves (including the renowned Parco dell'Uccellina, Diaccia Botrona reserve and the two Orbetello lagoon nature reserves).

Its marvellous beaches and famous thermal resorts Saturnia and Petriolo make Maremma the ideal holiday destination for many tourists every year, but the region is renowned for its food-and-wine specialities as well. A stay at the tower may offer the opportunity to taste traditional wild-boar dishes and the ham, botargo and pecorino cheese produced in the region, washing them down with some Morellino di Scansano or some Sassicaia.


Description

In origin a watch tower built in the 6th century, the building is surrounded by a wide 200-hectare park that stretches up to sea and populated with wild boars and deer.

The tower is an excellent accommodation for those who want to relax in close contact with nature and bathe in the wonderful sea of Maremma. Numerous nearby creeks are easily reached on foot, whereas a pebble beach is 3 kilometres from the tower and is accessed by car.

A campsite about 8 kilometres from the tower puts at guests' disposal a swimming pool, tennis courts, five-a-side football, basketball and volleyball pitches and archery facilities. Guests can windsurf and kitesurf about 10 kilometres from the estate.


Accommodation

The four-storey building can accommodate 5 guests in 2 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom and has 2 bathrooms.

The ground floor consists of a dining room with kitchenette and bar corner.
On the first floor is a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower.
On the second floor are a single bedroom, a double bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
The living room on the third floor affords a wonderful view of the islands of the Tuscan archipelago and Maremma inland. On clear days, Corsica is to be seen in the distance.


Facilities and Services

The tower comes with working fireplace, TV set, fridge, freezer and private car parking place.
A maid service with extra linen change is available upon request.
A breakfast, lunch and dinner service is available at a holiday farm 2 kilometres from the tower.
Guests can make use of the washing machines, tumble dryers, swimming pool, tennis courts, volleyball, five-a-side football and basketball pitches and archery facilities of a campsite 7.5 kilometres from the estate.
Guests can kitesurf and windsurf at a beach about 9 kilometres from the property.

A café and a restaurant are in a campsite 7.5 kilometres from the tower.
Other shops and services are in Talamone (9 km) and Fonteblanda (11 km).
