Location

The villa is situated near Borgo San Lorenzo, on the hills of Mugello, a region stretching a few dozen kilometres from Florence city centre.

Borgo San Lorenzo is a charming town of ancient origin, as demonstrates the Pieve of San Lorenzo, which dates back to the year 941. The largest Romanesque building in Florence countryside, the church houses a Madonna attributed to Giotto and a Madonna enthroned with child attributed to Agnolo Gaddi. The apsis is decorated with frescoes by Galileo Chini.

Borgo San Lorenzo is renowned for the pottery ware produced by Manifattura Chini. A museum dedicated to it is to be found in the beautiful Villa Pecori Gilardi.


Description

The elegant villa surrounded by cultivated fields and chestnut forests enjoys wonderful views of the valley below.

The property composes of a 16th-century villa and an apartment with independent access from the garden. Both the villa and the apartment are furnished in a simple and cosy style.

The wide garden that surrounds the building is furnished for having meals in the open air. The barbecue equipment is at guests' disposal.

The private swimming pool (10x5.5 m; depth: 1.10 m) and a children's swimming pool are a few dozen metres from the building. The whirlpool bathtub sitting four on the terrace next to the house overlooks the garden.

Lake Bilancino, a famous outlet village, the circuit of Mugello and a golf club are within a few kilometres from the property. The villa is an excellent departure point for visiting the magnificent Medicean villas in Mugello, the charming towns in Casentino and the National Park of Casentino Forests, which are within easy driving distance. Florence historic centre is a few dozen kilometres from the property and is easily reached by train.

Occasionally the owners live near the villa and are glad to help their guests in case of need.

The property composes of the main house and an apartment; in total it can accommodate 15 guests in 2 twin bedrooms, 5 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom, and has 4 bathrooms and 1 half bathroom.

The main house is a two-storey building that can accommodate 11 guest in 1 twin bedroom, 4 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom, and has 3 bathrooms.

On the raised ground floor are the kitchen, two living rooms (one with dining area) and a bathroom with shower.
The first floor composes of a twin bedroom, four double bedrooms, a single bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a bathroom with bathtub.

The kitchen opens onto a terrace with the washing machine.

The apartment can accommodate 4 guests in 1 twin bedroom and 1 double bedroom, and has 1 bathroom and 1 half bathroom.

A double bedroom is at entrance level, whereas the dining area with kitchen corner, the living room, a twin bedroom and direct access to the garden, a bathroom with shower and a half bathroom are some steps below.

Motorbike excursions on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, visits to the circuit of Mugello, road-bike and mountain-bike excursions, food-and-wine tours, trekking excursions, and surfing and sailing sessions at Lake Bilancino are organised upon request.

Other shops and services of any kind as well as a railway station are 5 kilometres from the property.
A golf club with an 18-hole course is within about 12 kilometres.
