You cannot certainly stand unimpressed in front of the Church of Santa Croce. The basilica, one of the most important gothic buildings in Italy, houses not only marvellous artistic treasures, but also the mortal remains of numerous celebrities, from Michelangelo Buonarroti to Ugo Foscolo.

From Piazzale Michelangelo, you can walk to the wonderful Church of San Miniato a Monte. At the top of a steep slope you will see one of the most important examples of Romanesque style. The magnificent vista over Florence adds charm to the place.
