Events in the Area of Mugello
If you are spending your holidays in Mugello in May don’t miss the chance to attend a unique event: l’infiorata di Scarperia ( a display of mosaics made in flower petals on the streets of Scarperia). Every year this festival takes place on the last Sunday of May. It’s something really extraordinary since every year, according to a common theme, the artists and the people of the village draw pictures on the streets that are afterwords filled with colourfull flower petals glued to the ground. If you have rented and apartment in Scarperia right in this period you will have the privilege to see from your window this colourfull spectacle.
Still in the warmer time of the year in Palazzuolo sul Senio , feasts and medioeval festivals are orgenized where everybody can partecipate dressing up as a lady-in-waiting or a knight. You might dress up as a king or as a peeress and picture yourself in the luxury apartments of the Mugello castles . the majority of the events happens in the last Sunday of July, with the traditional Palio della Campana, to commemorate the 1387 siege by the Florentines: the name of the commemoration is due to the fact that the Florentines stole the bell from the Susinana castle to take it to Figline Valdarno, where it is still today.
If you are in Mugello in the fall you won’t run short of things to do. In Marradi the Fiera dei Marroni (the festival of the chestnuts) will warm your up your body and your soul. Not only will you be able to taste the many gastronomic products, but the streets will be liven up by streets artists, theis shows and their music.
